About Me!

Hi and welcome to my blog. I've just caught the crafting bug again and am starting to create new things to share. I will post my creations here and hope that you enjoy them. Crafting is such a relaxing thing for me. I can just get lost in it and lose all track of time. Lucky for me I have 4 angels (my kids) that bring me right back to reality.I love to think of things for the holidays to share and love learning new things as well. Please feel free to leave comments and share your thoughts.

Some Of My Recent Goodies

Things have been pretty hectic around the shop lately and I hadn't realized how long it's been since I've posted.  Below are some of the things I've made lately.  Mostly I've been baking but I've also managed to make some cupcake toppers, finish a blanket for my daughter and make some chocolate Oreo truffles that I'm still trying to get just right.

These cookies were ordered for a Mario Bros. birthday party.  Really cute "power up star."

I also did an order for a Patron bottle.  These were not quite finished but I didn't get a chance to take a completed photo.  The "corks" were mini vanilla wafers.  These were gone in a flash!

I play Bunco with a group of ladies and September it was at my house.  I thought it would be fun to make some die cookies for dessert.  The ladies loved them and again they didn't last long.

Our local Stater Bros. supermarket had a car wash to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  I volunteered to make these cookies for a bake sale to go along with the car wash!  Everyone loved them.  I want to add a note that Stater Bros. (located in Southern California) is a huge supporter of various charities especially those that deal with children.  Thank you Stater Bros. for all of your generous efforts!!

I also donated cookies for another fundraiser for a family that is very dear to one of my nieces.  The family has a 8 month old son who has been diagnosed with KAWASAKI Disease which I had never heard of until now.  This little boy has been through so much in his short time here and his parents are struggling with medical costs.  There have been various fundraisers for the family and I donated these to sell at a Community Rummage Sale for the family.  I made brownies and chocolate chip cookies and attached a tag with a little heart and they said CARSON'S CAUSE.  They were not only cute but so delicious.

Finally, I received an order for cupcakes for a bridal shower.  The theme of the shower was pumpkins since the bride loves, loves, loves, Halloween and the wedding is in mid-October.  I didn't want to do something cheesy or funky but wanted to keep in the theme of things.  I wanted something that incorporated the theme but was classy for a bridal shower.  These cupcakes and toppers are what I came up with.  The cupcakes are Chocolate Pumpkin and the frosting is Whipped Pumpkin.  I frosted them in a rosette pattern and topped them with gold pixie dust and sugar crystals.

I also made toppers for these cupcakes with the brides initial and the grooms initial and their last name initial in the center.  I tried to match the colors as close as possible to coordinate with the cupcakes and I also added a pumpkin image to the center initial.  I couldn't be happier with how these turned out.

Well, as you can see, it's been pretty busy around here.  Now I'm off to bake, bake, bake.

Zombie Cake Topper

Our cousin is getting married in October and is a huge fan of the monster/Halloween stuff.  For her wedding she wanted to incorporate her love of that along with some humor and she found a cake topper on Pinterest http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/81/78/ee/8178eecf994eac99ce8260fbb8c58e10.jpg she really liked.

She asked if my husband could somehow try to re-create the look and this is the end result.  Thankfully she loves it and I can't wait to see how it all comes together on her wedding day.

FLAG CAKE

I made this flag cake using Lemon Cake mix.  I baked to 13x9 layers and used whipped cream topping between the layers.  I also used the whipped cream topping to frost the cake.  Once the cake was frosted and smoothed out, I used the blueberries and strawberries to decorate the top of the cake to look like a flag.  I piped the border with whipped cream.  This was so good and not too sweet but just sweet enough!

Moustache themed Baby Shower

I got an order for a diaper cake for a Moustache themed baby shower.  The customer showed me a picture of what they wanted and this is the end result.  I wasn't sure I could pull it all together but in the end, I think it looks cute.

I also did the cookies for the shower.  They wanted onesie and bootie cookies in green, blue and yellow and I decided to throw in a few moustache cookies for fun!

Blinged Out Spiral Notebook

So today, I didn't have anything scheduled and had planned to be creative and craft all day long.  As luck would have it, I had a mental block (I usually do my best work when I'm under pressure or have a deadline) and couldn't think of anything to create.  I wasn't in the mood to bake, didn't feel like making any cards and didn't have any orders that needed my attention.

I have this great new craft area and I haven't had a chance to craft there yet because I've had other things to do.  Now, today, when all I have to do is play, I can't think of anything to work on.

I decided to try my hand at making a card using the 'Iris Folding" technique.  I took a class a couple months ago but haven't had a chance to put what I learned to the test.  I flipped through the pages of my book 460 Iris Folded Cards to Make and found a cute sailboat that I thought might be cute for a father's day card.

Once I finished that, I found my cheap spiral notebook that I have my orders, ideas and Ebay information in.  It was boring and not very fun to carry around.....until now that is.  I grabbed my notebook, papers, embellishments and adhesive and went to work.  I love the finsihed product and now when I need my notebook, I don't have to flip through them all  until I find mine.  I also don't have to worry about one of the kids grabbing mine by mistake.

My notebook has some pretty paper on the cover with my name, a place for notes and business cards, some cute flowers and bling. The best part is it didn't cost me much to make but my time.

This Weekends Cookies

This week-end I have three events to go to, two of which I decided to make cookies for.  The first is a graduation that I am making a gift can for (I'll show the end result later)  and the second is a Cinco de Mayo party.  I decided to make some cute chili pepper cookies to take to that.  They are so darn cute I love the end result.

The third event is a Confirmation for my nephew.  I made these cross cookies and wanted something that wasn't too fufu.  I iced the cookies in white royal icing and when dry, I went over the icing with a lace pattern and added a few mini pearl candies to them.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE DIAPER CAKE

Strawberry Shortcake Diaper Cake that includes 2 receiving blankets and a 12" doll cake to top the cake.  I used 2 different ribbons to tie around each layer and filled the cake with shredded colored paper.  I also added the strawberry cupcake picks around the cake.  So fun to make!

Baby Gift Can

This is a can I made for a baby shower gift.  The can was decorated using paper, stickers and ribbon.  This inside was filled with baby clothes and the best part is it's so cute it can sit on a shelf in the nursery to be used to hold baby items or mementos.

Monkey Diaper Cake

There are many versions of diaper cakes out there from the very simple to the very elaborate.  Some are plain while others are filled with toys and lotions.  I chose to create this very simple but beautiful diaper cake (with the help of a very good friend) for my daughter's co-worker.  This is made with diapers, of course, and 3 receiving blankets, ribbon and the shredded grass.  The monkey and flowers add the finishing touches to this very beautiful diaper cake.

I've been busy getting ready for Valentines Day with these delicious sugar cookies that are frosted in Royal Icing.  They are so good!

I've also made some peanut butter cups and dark chocolate.  These are great for those who want a little of both.  There's a dozen cups that are pacakaged in a cute little red box. Who wouldn't love a sweet treat!

Bee My Valentine

This was so easy to do.  I covered white cardstock with plain red paper and then cut 4 separate sheets of paper to fit the four corners of the card.  I then cut some pale yellow cardstock and layered that on red and black paper.  I stamped my images using Stampin Up's "Cute as a Bug" and a Heart stamp.  Both are colored with Copic Markers.  The sentiment was handwritten.

I wasn't sure how the yellow would look but I really like the contrast!

Vintage Valentine

This card is very simple with a vintage feel.  I used THE PAPER STUDIO "Be My Valentine" on the front of the card and trimed one edge with off white ribbon.  The tag is a piece of manila folder stamped with AMERICAN CRAFT "Valentine" clear stamp.  I used two green brads and dusted the  front of the tag with PERFECT PEARLS copper color.

3 Hearts

I used white cardstock for this one and then layered it with red and white cardstock.  I punched out 3 hearts using two different papers (Reflections "Red Roses" and The Paper "Studio Doodle Love") and attached then to the front of the card. The red cardstock was punched with Martha Stewart's Floral Lace border punch and the sentiment "I Love You" was stamped with Craft Smart wooden rubber stamp.

Sweet Cupcake

I made this card in a pinch last night using white cardstock as the base for this card.  I cut a piece of red and white diamond shaped paper from Hot Off The Press and attached that to the front of the card with piece of black cardstock on the bottom.  Then I attached a strip of plain pink cardstock and topped it with red cardstock that was punched with Martha Stewart's "Floral Lace" border punch.

I attached a cupcake  from K&Company Valentine accents and stamped the i♥u with American Crafts Valentine clear stamp and the "Happy Valentines Day" with the Craft Smart rubber stamp.  I painted the heart with copic markers #'s RV02, RV06 and RV09.

Hope you like it!

All You Need Is Love!

What better way to say I love you than with a simple but beautiful card!  The card says it all.....All you need is Love!

I used white cardstock for the card.  I cut a piece of plain black cardstock and attached that with red ribbon to the middle of the front of the card.  I had strips of red cardstock that had hearts punched out of them and all that was left were the frames.  I used one of the frames and attached a piece of white cardstock to it then stamped the sentiment in the middle of the white.  I had some glittered heart embellishments as well as some round red embellishments and glued them to the front of the card.

Again very simple and clean!

Heart Softball Cookies

The college softball season starts Friday and I wanted to make a special treat for the girls to get them going!  Tomorrow they will have a team building day, spending the whole day and night together as a team, playing games, having fun and bonding as one.  I thought these cookies would be a great way to add to their special day!!

I cut out large heart shaped sugar cookies and frosted them in white royal icing with a black seam.  I also cut out small heart shaped cookies and frosted them in the team color which is royal blue.  I placed a large and small cookie in a cello bag and tied it off with curly ribbon in the team colors.

For the tag, I stamped a hornet, colored with copic markers and added the colored paper as a background.  I hope they like their cookies and hope we have a great season.  GO HORNETS!!!!

We are attending a 60th birthday celebration this week-end and I decided to make a card.  I wanted something simple but not plain.  I did a card a few months back for a quincenera and had some paper left over.  Since the theme of this party is gold tones, I figured I would try to put something together with the same papers.  I used the "Tall Flower" stamp from HERO ARTS and the sentiment is from Inkadinkadoo's "Thoughts for the Day."  I used a piece of gold ribbon to accent the card.

I like to add some extra dazzle by decorating the envelopes for the cards I make so I covered the envelope with the same rust colored paper that was used as the background for the card and tied a gold ribbon around it.  Simple but definitely a stand-out!
