About Me!

Hi and welcome to my blog. I've just caught the crafting bug again and am starting to create new things to share. I will post my creations here and hope that you enjoy them. Crafting is such a relaxing thing for me. I can just get lost in it and lose all track of time. Lucky for me I have 4 angels (my kids) that bring me right back to reality.I love to think of things for the holidays to share and love learning new things as well. Please feel free to leave comments and share your thoughts.

Christmas Tags

Homemade Christmas tags made with rubber stamps and copic pens.  These cute little tags are great for any holiday or gift.  Adds that special touch!

Holiday Baking

Every year I make mini breads to give away.  This year, I sort of got carried away with my baking.  I ended up making 30 loaves of bread - Pumpkin Bread, Cranberry Orange Bread and Banana Raspberry Bread.  Pumpkin was my personal favorite!

I also made about 4 dozen sugar cookies, decorated with royal icing and oreo cookies dipped in white and dark chocolate.  Then there were the pretzel sticks dipped in chocolate!

I wanted to make truffles and rum balls but time ran out so I guess I'll save those tasty treats for Valentines Day!

Cute Little Blankets

For Christmas I made these cute little blankets out of fleece.  As I was cutting and tying, I thought about how nice it would be to make one for myself and curl up by a nice fire.

I love blankets that are not too heavy but comfy and cozy and I hope these bring lots of joy to the two beautiful babies I made them for.

Busy as Bees!

This holiday season we have been super busy with our little brick orders!  When I started making these little guys, they were just snowmen that I painted onto brick pavers.  Then we decided to do pumpkins for Halloween and turkeys for Thanksgiving.  We threw in some Reindeer, Santa's, Penguins and other critters.  At one time Ladybugs were the big hit.  Then I painted a football paver for a friend and I haven't done anything else since.

This Christmas, we rented a spot at our local Tamale Festival to sell our purses and I decided to take a couple of painted football pavers, just to show.  Well we came home with 9 orders that night.  We got those orders out and a few days later got 5 more orders.  We decided that once those were done, we wouldn't do any more until after Christmas......until one of our customers called to ask if we could please do 3 more for a friend of hers and a friend of ours called requesting 5.....all by  Christmas.

Needless to say, with all the baking and other things I need to do by the holidays, it's been a crazy time here.  My husband, who is my helper, said he would do the bricks so I could get all my other stuff done.  Poor guy.  He's been in that garage for almost a week now, painting away.

I'm so lucky to have him and so glad to see the final product.  Some are new designs that we've been requested to do and it's always fun to see the variety of teams.  We've moved from football to baseball and now we've been asked to do a basketball player.  Can't wait to see how that one turns out.

Thanks to my hubby for all his help, hard work and love!!

Christmas Treat Bags

I made these cute little treat bags out of card stock, to which I then attached a hand stamped image that was painted with Copic markers.  Inside there is a cello bag filled with candy.  Once closed, I punched 2 holes and tied a cute little ribbon

THANKSGIVING COOKIES!

This year I wanted to make something a little special for Thanksgiving and since I have been on a cookie craze, I decided to make some decorated cookies.

I have had cookie cutters for years that I've always wanted to get to but never seemed to make the time.  For the last several months however, I've been making and decorating cookies and love it!

I decided to make some cookies for Thanksgiving and decorate them and love the way they turned out.  I used cookies cutters I already had and I'm so excited to put them out on the dessert table for Thanksgiving!  I bet they don't last long!

Zig Zag Crochet

I love to create many things and this is one of my favorites!  I made this for my daughter who requested a pink, white and grey blanket.  I wasn't sure how the colors would turn out but as you can see, they go very well together!

I haven't crocheted in 30 years and only made one prior to this, last year.  It was just a basic baby blanket with no pattern.  I wanted to try this design again so I solicited the help of my aunt, who at 89 still dabbles in craft making and is one of the most talented women I know.

With her help in understanding the crochet "language" I figured out how to do this.  I had to take it apart many times, (more times than I would have liked) but I wanted it to be done right!  Finally, last night I finished it and couldn't be more pleased at the outcome.

I can't wait to start my next one and share it with you all!

Shadowbox Bank

I'm always looking for creative things to give as gifts.  This is a really cute idea for any age, especially teens.  It's a fun way to save for something special!

The inside of the box is designed with visuals of what the savings are for.  The top has a slot for money to drop inside.

In this particular case, my niece wasn't saving for anything in particular so I added things teens look forward to.

Mermaid Cookies

My niece was having her 1st birthday and I wanted to make something special for her party.  The theme of the party was Little Mermaid and I decided to make mermaid cookies.  I wasn't sure how they would turn out if at all.

To my surprise, they turned out pretty cute!  They were actually easier than I thought.  The most difficult part for me was deciding how I wanted the face.  The samples I looked at had scary looking faces but I think these turned out nice.

Gonna make some cookies to start out the football season this week!

QuinceƱera Card

We are invited to a QuinceƱera tomorrow for my niece.  This is a coming out party for a girl who is turning 15.  It's a big event with a mass, dinner and reception and a formal affair for the "QuinceƱera."

I wanted to make a special card for Brianna and searched around for the right design.  Thanks to a friend of mine, I was able to get my hands on a stamped image of a girl in a formal gown.  I believe this is from the Stampin Up Collection.  I colored her in tangerine orange, since those are the colors of the attendant's dresses.  I used my copic markers to color the face, dress and hair.  The embellishments on the dress were done in yellow Stickles with small rhinestones.  The bouquet, crown and shoes were also done in stickles.  I wasn't happy with how the dress looked.  I thought it needed some gussying up so I found some sample fabric at JoAnn Fabric of Tangerine organza with rhinestones.  I cut the fabric the same size as the dress and attached it to the image.

I used brown cardstock as the base for the card and layered 6 different Recollections paper on top of the brown.  I stared with the Orange Dots, Rust Shimmer, White Embossed paper, Ambrosia Mandarin, Gold Cardstock topped with a translucent felt type paper with a shimmer.

I cut the image out and attached her to the top layer.  I cut a circle from the Rust Shimmer and attached the Quince 15 AƱos to that and layered that on the image corner.  I used a copper ribbon I had lying around and tied a bow and attached it to the top of the card.

I also decorated the envelope to match using some of the leftover paper and adding adhesive rhinestones to a circle punch.  I love how this turned out.

Graduation Thank you Cards!

I finally finished the thank you cards last night.  I used red Bazille cardstock for the card with a layer of white.  I stamped a graduation cap from Stampin Up's Tassle Time.  I used Versa Ink on black paper and cut out the hat and attached with foam dot to add depth.  I used a sentiment from Fiskar's So Much Thanks clear stamp set.

Butterflies

I'm going back to work in a few days and wanted to get some crafting in before I started.  I have this butterfly stamp from Hero Arts that I just love.  I also love playing with my copics so I thought, why not make a few cards to keep on hand, just because.  I hope you enjoy!

Butterfly

This is a card that I made for Mother's Day!  I used Hero Arts Butterfly stamp and painted it with Copic Markers.  I also used Stickles glitter paint on the butterfly.  I stamped the sentiment with black ink on white cardstock and used the colored stamp ink to color the paper.  The scroll was stamped and colored with Perfect Pearls.

Mother's Day Card

This is a card I made for Mother's Day last year.  I stamped the hydrangea, from Rubber Stampede on white cardstock and colored it with copic markers.  I then hi-lighted the center of the flowers with yellow stickles glitter paint and stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts in black ink and coated it with clear glitter.  I attached the white stamped cardstock onto a light blue background and and attached both of those onto the dark blue card.

Valentine Treat Bags

I made these cute treat bags for my daughter's class at school.  Took white cardstock and stamped the heart and sentiment then colored the heart with copics.  I added the Cotton Candy Stickles around the edge, filled each cello bag with treats and used double sided tape to adhere the topper to the bags.

So cute and easy!

Soccer Player

I've been doing alot of football players with my bricks and got an order to do a soccer player.  Wasn't sure how it was going to turn out but I think it turned out pretty cute.  They wanted the Chivas colors.  Let me know what you think!
